Audio and Visual Technologies in the Classroom

With many different kinds of technology emerging in the classroom, teachers should not forget about the traditional types that are still out there. An example of a traditional form of audio technology is a tape recorder that is able to record and then play something over and over again. In the classroom, teachers are able to use a tape recorder to record their lectures, for a student who missed class, or for a student who learns by listening to something over and over again until they finally understand it. An example of a traditional form of visual technology is a bulletin board. A bulletin board can help visual learners in the classroom by displaying things like notes that students are able to view multiple times so they are able to read and remember it. Teachers can choose from many different types of traditional technologies, but there are even more types of technologies still emerging. One example of an emerging audio technology is a DVD player. In the classroom, a DVD player can help students visually understand a book that they were told to read by listening and watching the book in a movie form. An example of an emerging visual technology is a computer  because it is able to display all sorts of notes, quizzes, or tests for students. Having a computer in the classroom, students are able to take a test or quiz on it, which helps the teacher save paper and also with keeping herself organized, since all the test or quiz results are on the computer.

Technologies in the Classroom

Having many different types of technology my classroom, in my opinion will help my students tremendously with their schoolwork and the ability to learn new things. With new technology emerging everyday, people are learning to use technology in their homes as well as their work rooms. I think that starting my students off early with learning how to use those devices and how to use them to their best ability will help them in the long run. With technology having the ability to spell-check work, teachers will have less of a chance to spell something wrong in a newsletter or test, which will show the students that they will have to be using proper language in their writing as well. With the students learning how to use these technologies in their classroom early, they can then get a head start creating projects or papers in the years to come, compared to other classrooms who did not have as much technology that would be able to help them accomplish their work.
